The survivor of the chemical massacre in Ghouta and a member of the Association of Victims of Chemical Weapons, Thaer Al-Hajazi, speaks about their work since the very first moment to document the violations related to the chemical attack on Eastern Ghouta. He confirms that the path to justice is long and has begun from the very first moment. His testimony, along with the testimonies of others, formed the basis for efforts towards achieving justice. These efforts concluded in bringing lawsuits with the French and German judiciaries concerning this use, this is only the beginning of the journey. The lawsuit in France relied on the jurisdiction beyond territorial boundaries because the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression, a partner in the Association, is one of the civil parties in the case. Meanwhile, the trial in Germany, which has the principle of ‘universal jurisdiction,’ allows its courts to investigate and prosecute crimes against humanity, even if committed by foreign citizens on foreign land. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
